- Biography
- Capucine Tamboise is Director of Sales and a specialist within the Design department at Christie’s Paris, focusing on 20th- and 21st-century Decorative Arts. She began her career at Christie’s in 2008 during the landmark Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé Collection sale, a defining event that profoundly shaped her understanding of the market for exceptional collections and their presentation on the international stage. After nearly seven years at Artcurial, where she contributed to the creation and development of new departments and structured Scandinavian design sales—achieving record results for several leading designers—she also gained advisory experience within the Michelin family office. These years strengthened her strategic vision of the market: value creation, analysis of market cycles, development of compelling sale narratives, and international positioning of works and collections. Holding a Master’s degree in Art History and a Master’s degree in Management from ESSEC Business School, she combines academic rigor with commercial strategy. Returning to Christie’s in 2023, she leads curated sales and major collections, including the François-Xavier Lalanne, Sculpture – Dorothée Lalanne Collection sale, a landmark project bringing together market strategy, international coordination, and close collaboration with the family. She firmly believes that design is now a defining segment of the global market for the 20th and 21st centuries. Strategic positioning, narrative development, timing, and international visibility are the key levers she employs to anchor works within a framework of sustained value.
