- Sophie Grémaud is Legal Director, Associate General Counsel at Sotheby’s. Prior to joining Sotheby's, Sophie practised at an international law firm where she advised French and international companies, as well as states, in complex litigation before arbitral tribunals and courts. She developed an expertise in disputes involving works of art, representing various professionals in the art market on a wide range of issues including contractual claims, authenticity claims, insurance claims, restitution of looted art, and cases with a criminal law dimension. She also advised her clients on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML-CFT) regulations and international sanctions. Sophie is admitted to the Paris and New York Bars. She holds an LL.M. from Cornell Law School (New York) and a Master's degree in International Trade Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon – La Sorbonne. Sophie also holds a dual Master's degree in English law (LL.B.) and French law (Maîtrise) from King's College London and the University of Paris I Panthéon – Sorbonne.
